Todays post is on the dreaded chapped lips most of us tend to experience now and then especially in the winter. I am definitely one of those people who suffer from dry lips but with the help of lip balms and scrubs it has gotten a lot better over the years. If you are one of those people who like me love wearing matte lip products you may have noticed that it can dry our lips out afterwards. This is when moisturising becomes very important to ensure our lips don’t become chapped. So if you want to avoid getting chapped, dry lips keep on reading!
In order to get smooth lips one of the most important steps are to exfoliate with the help of scrubs. I’ve realised that using sugar scrubs is probably the best way to get rid of dry, dead skin from the lips. Many people have recommended me to use things like toothbrushes to get rid of dry skin however I think this is the best way to do it without being to ruff on your lips. I usually tend to use lush lip scrubs my favourite’s being the bubble gum and popcorn one.
Mousturising Lip Balms!
Having a good lip balm that helps moisturise and hydrate your lips is extremely important. I could sit here and list all the lip balms I own but that would take forever. However over the years I have found certain ones that I think work best for my lips. My absolute favourite for tackling dry lips is Carmex. Carmex is great at locking in moisture and although the smell can sometimes be off putting it does work wonders. For days when my lips are terribly dry I tend to use Blistex intensive repair which yet again does smell like medicine and is extremely strong but it does help my lips. Although I wouldn’t recommend using this on a daily basis as I’ve mentioned it is strong. Another one of my favourites is W7 Argan oil lip balm. this lip balm is great and as the name mentions it includes oil so it definitely makes your lips soft. I also like to use eos and baby lips but these are some of my favourites.
Hydrating/moisturising Lip Colours!
Now and then I like to use lip colours that will not only give me colour but will also hydrate my lips at the same time. Yes we love matte lip colours but sometimes its good to take a break from lipsticks and use tinted lip balms instead. Some of my favourites are Baby lips in Cherry me which gives a lovely red tint and Vaseline’s paint the town. As well as tinted lip balms, lip crayons or chubby sticks as some people call it are also great for providing colour and moisture (just not the matte ones of course) one of my favourites is Rimmels lasting finish colour rush intense colour balm which unlike tinted lip balms, which just provide sheer colour this product provides you with great colour payoff while acting as a lip balm at the same time.
